Position Overview: Responsible for ensuring the quality of products through control of raw materials, production processes, and sub-suppliers. Coordinates inspection testing and supports the business with standard production processes, FMEAs, and Production Control Plans.
Direct Reports: One Quality Engineer and two Quality Technicians.
Position Scope: The Quality Manager oversees all quality initiatives at the Chicago Heights production site.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead process improvement activities and measurement systems.
Manage Advanced Product Quality Planning.
Support activities to enhance process and product capabilities and key performance indicators.
Coordinate corrective actions with customers and suppliers.
Direct SPC and quality efforts.
Assist marketing and sales with customer product issues and projects.
Provide problem-solving expertise and support Six Sigma projects.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality system requirements.
Manage internal quality audits and initiate external audits for quality, environmental, and safety standards.
Oversee testing procedures, including training staff for product testing and inspection.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Metallurgy.
Experience:
7-10 years in Quality within manufacturing environments.
Knowledge:
Deep understanding of ISO 9001, automotive quality standards, lean tools, and Six Sigma (CQE or Blackbelt preferred). Knowledge of phenolic chemistry, vacuum forming, rheology, drying, and fuels is a plus.
Skills & Behavior:
Excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, leadership, and computer proficiency. Familiarity with Minitab and Access is beneficial. Ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels and maintain a safe work attitude.
Problem Solving & Complexity:
This role involves continuous process improvement and quality assurance, requiring strong problem-solving skills to ensure product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
