About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Scrum Master/QA Test Engineer to support a large-scale federal technology modernization program. In this dual-role position, you will facilitate all Scrum ceremonies including stand-ups, backlog refinement, planning, and reviews, while managing project documentation and artifacts. As a QA Test Engineer, you will be responsible for validating application quality through functional testing, test automation, accessibility assessments, and performance testing. This hands-on role requires active participation within an Agile Scrum team, executing manual and automated tests within sprint cycles, developing and maintaining automation frameworks, and ensuring compliance with accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1 AA. You will also conduct load and performance testing prior to major releases, ensuring the stability and reliability of applications. The role demands excellent facilitation, communication, and testing expertise, along with the ability to work in a fast-paced, federally regulated environment. Candidates must be eligible for a Public Trust clearance and adhere to safeguarding and compliance requirements related to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in software quality assurance and testing
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience (additional 2 years of experience)
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent certification, or 2+ years of experience as a Scrum Master
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright, including scripting in Java and/or JavaScript
- Experience creating and maintaining system integration test cases and scenarios
- 1+ year of experience with Selenium and/or Playwright for end-to-end browser automation, including CI pipeline integration
- 1+ year of experience with performance and load testing tools like NeoLoad or JMeter
- Proficiency with BDD frameworks using Cucumber/Gherkin syntax
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman and Rest Assured
- Working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA standards, Section 508 compliance, and accessibility testing tools (aXe, pa11y, WAVE, ANDI)
- Manual screen reader testing experience with JAWS or NVDA
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, especially GitLab CI
- Strong defect documentation skills with clear, reproducible bug reports
- Knowledge of code quality tools like SonarQube
- Excellent communication skills for status reporting and stakeholder collaboration
Responsibilities
- Organize, conduct, and facilitate all Scrum ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
- Train and coach team members on agile processes, ensuring consistent understanding and application of Scrum practices
- Maintain and groom the product backlog, ensuring clarity and readiness for upcoming sprints
- Manage project artifacts, tracking progress and maintaining accurate documentation of project status
- Provide high-level summaries and updates on project progress to leadership
- Perform functional testing of web application features, validating against acceptance criteria and documenting defects with detailed reproduction steps and severity levels
- Develop, build, and maintain automated regression test suites using Playwright, Cypress, and Selenium, integrated into GitLab CI pipelines for continuous feedback
- Create and maintain automated API test collections to validate microservice endpoints and inter-service contracts
- Conduct accessibility evaluations using automated tools and manual techniques to ensure WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 compliance, documenting findings with actionable remediation guidance
- Execute load and performance testing to validate response times, throughput, and error rates prior to production releases
- Maintain comprehensive test plans and test cases linked to Jira stories, with documented evidence for sprint reviews
- Collaborate with developers during backlog refinement to define clear acceptance and test criteria
- Support production triage, diagnosing issues, and verifying fixes through CI/CD pipelines
- Contribute to continuous improvement of test strategies, automation frameworks, and team knowledge sharing
