Job Overview
A Sheet Metal Quality Inspector verifies that fabricated metal parts meet design specifications, blueprints, and quality standards, using precision tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges. They perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections, identifying defects such as dimensional errors or poor welds to ensure compliance.
- Inspections: Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and in-process checks on sheet metal, ensuring accurate bends, welds, and dimensions.
- Defect Identification: Examine parts for defects such as cracks, incorrect dimensions, or poor finishing (paint/powder coating).
- Documentation: Utilize excel or electronic systems to document inspection results, maintain inspection logs, and generate Non-Conformance Reports (NCR).
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and customer specifications.
- Collaboration: Work with production teams to resolve quality issues and prevent the shipment of non-conforming products.
