Overview
MTM Environmental is hiring an experienced Quality Control Manager for a federal highway construction contract in the Cherokee National Forest. We need a Primary QC Manager to run the Contractor Quality Control program for the life of the approximately 9-month project. We will be rebuilding gravel roads in the national forest.
Housing and per-diem included.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the sole on-site QC authority
- Prepare and submit daily QC reports documenting inspections, testing, and corrective actions
- Conduct material testing and inspection at the point of work, including truck-yardage documentation for aggregate and soil quantities
- Maintain QC documentation in a form that will withstand federal audit and inspection
- Manage an approved alternate QCM for any absence, understanding that an alternate can’t cover more than 3 consecutive days without Federal approval
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of construction quality control experience
- Federal highway experience specifically — FHWA or Federal Lands Highway (FLH)
- Prior experience as a QC Manager on a highway/roadway construction project
- Working knowledge of quality control documentation, inspection, and testing protocols
- Ability to be on-site full time for the duration of the project (approximately 270 calendar days from mobilization) with no other job duties. Site is in the Cherokee National Forest.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to a rural jobsite in the Cherokee National Forest
- OSHA 10 certification (OSHA 30 preferred)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk uneven terrain, active roadway, and forest service roads for extended periods
- Ability to climb into/onto equipment, culverts, and retaining wall structures for inspection
- Exposure to outdoor conditions across all seasons
- Ability to lift/carry testing equipment (up to 40 lbs)
Working Conditions
- Active highway/roadway construction site in a national forest, with limited cell service and long stretches of remote road
- Frequent exposure to heavy equipment, truck traffic, and grading operations
- Some evening/weekend availability may be needed around inspection windows or weather-driven schedule shifts
Pay: $40.00 – $60.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 50.0 per week
