Job Description
Atovee Steel Constructions is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented QA/QC Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for maintaining, implementing, and enforcing total quality assurance and quality control standards across our structural steel fabrication facility and site erection projects. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of direct structural steel experience within the GCC region.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspection & Testing Plans (ITP): Prepare, implement, and manage ITPs for structural steel fabrication and site erection projects.
- Material Inspection: Verify and inspect all incoming raw materials, steel profiles, welding consumables, and coatings against project specifications and Mill Test Certificates (MTC).
- Welding Inspection: Monitor welding operations to ensure compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR). Coordinate and witness Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) including UT, MPI, and PT.
- Dimensional & Coating Inspection: Perform final structural alignment inspections, fit-up inspections, and paint dry film thickness (DFT) checks using calibrated instruments.
- Documentation & Reporting: Compile comprehensive Quality Records, Handover Packages, and Manufacturer Data Books (MDB). Raise, track, and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCR).
- Audit & Liaison: Coordinate directly with client consultants, third-party inspectors, and project personnel during mandatory hold-points and material approvals.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Metallurgical Engineering.
- GCC Experience: Strict requirement of 3–5 years of proven experience in QA/QC handling structural steel projects in the UAE or wider GCC region.
- Certifications: Certified Welding Inspector (AWS-CWI or CSWIP 3.1) and NDT Level II (UT, MT, PT) certifications are highly preferred.
- Technical Standards: Deep knowledge of international structural steel and welding standards (AISC, AWS D1.1, BS EN, ASTM).
- Communication: Strong communication skills in English to confidently manage inspections alongside international consultants and project teams.
