The Quality Manager provides governance of the quality and food safety management process and leads the implementation of the Company’s policies, standards, and GFSI standards at the facility. The role leads and manages the site quality and food safety team to assure the production of high quality, safe and legally compliant products that meet the desired product design and customer expectations. In addition, this position manages the department budget and related spending, trains team members and participates in continuous improvement with strong collaboration lines to the Plant Manager, Director Regulatory & Quality Affairs and R&D.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

· Lead all Food Safety programs including HACCP, Food Safety Plans, Preventive Controls, and FSMA compliance.

· Maintain certification and audit readiness for GFSI (FSSC 22000), customer, and regulatory audits.

· Oversee the Quality Management System (QMS), GMPs, documentation, training, and facility inspections.

· Lead hazard analysis (HARPC) and preventive control implementation.

  • Performs checks on scales, production lines setup, line QC’s operation, ingredients, product codes, accuracy of batch sheets and inventory of DEA controlled substances.

· Manage in house quality control laboratory.

· Investigate customer complaints and drive corrective/preventive actions (RCA/CAPA).

· Lead Recall & Traceability programs, including mock exercises.

· Use KPIs, SPC, and statistical tools to improve processes and performance.

· Enhance the Quality mindset across the plant through coaching, training and active involvement of personnel in Quality routines.

· Operate independently within the given job responsibilities, while keeping the Plant Manager and Director Regulatory & Quality Affairs informed. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Minimal supervision is needed.

· Supervise junior quality staff members and be resourceful in attaining information and assistance to complete the various requests on-time.

· Identify tools, process improvements, along with new protocols and policies to ensure compliance with the Food Safety Modernization Act and all customer guidelines.

· Support Product Development and Supply Chain through alerts or training to increase awareness on quality issues that affect their product categories.

Required Qualifications:

· College degree (B.S.) in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Chemistry, Nutrition, Pharmaceutical or related fields

· Extensive knowledge of flavor / food / dietary supplements or pharmaceutical production, with 5 or more years of industry experience in plant quality management.

· Experience with formal food safety training, internal and external manufacturing food and safety audits.

· HACCP and PCQI Certified.

· Experience with Chemical Training.

· Technical writing skills; experience writing processes and SOPs.

· Experience with Quality Management Systems.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

· Experience working with detailed project management timelines; strong prioritization skills; supervise and mentor work of others.

· Capable of handling multiple tasks and working in a fast-paced environment.

· Able to work independently and make recommendations and decisions. Willing to take challenges, hardworking, self-motivated and dependable.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel along with the ability to learn other systems as needed.

Pay: From $100,000.00 per year
