Job Role:
- Defining QA vision and setting measurable objectives.
- Develop, implement, and continually improve Quality Assurance and Food Safety procedures covering raw materials, packaging material, dairy processing, filling, storage, distribution, and retail, ensuring alignment with Company policies, regulatory requirements, and international best practices.
- Ensure effective execution of QA systems, including:
-Team awareness and competency.
-Compliance monitoring.
-Timely corrective and preventive actions for deviations.
- Lead and maintain national and international certifications (e.g. HACCP, ISO 22000 / FSSC 22000 , ISO 9001, HACCP, GMP, HALAL/GSO), including documentation control, internal audits, external audits, and sustained compliance.
- Collaborate with Production to Monitor, analyze, and report quality performance trends including:
-Daily quality panels and sensory evaluations.
-Microbiological and chemical results.
-Complaint trends and repeat issues.
-Variability in process and product quality.
- Lead consumer complaint management, including detailed RCA for factory and market investigations, and coordination with Production, Sales, and Marketing to ensure effective correction and corrective actions.
- Oversee Supplier Quality Assurance, including:
-Evaluation and approval of new and alternative suppliers.
-Raw material risk assessment.
-Supplier audits and performance monitoring.
-Assurance of milk quality by visiting Milk chilling centers, sampling and analysis of milk and continuous monitoring and reporting.
- Manage, Lead and Develop QA Team and fostering a strong quality culture.
- Plan and manage QA operating and capital budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources aligned with business priorities.
- Oversee chemical and microbiological laboratory operations, ensuring:
-Accurate, timely testing.
-Method validation.
-Compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support new product development, renovation, and benchmarking activities, ensuring food safety and quality risks are identified early and managed during scale.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities on quality, water standards, effluent monitoring, and compliance-related matters.
- Lead and participate in food safety incident management, mock recalls, and crisis response as required by Management.
- Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Management.
Candidate Requirements:
- Passionate about Sri Lanka; you're committed to making a positive impact for our Country and its people.
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) in Food Science, Food Technology, Agriculture, Bioscience, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in Quality Assurance within the food manufacturing industry (Dairy/FMCG experience preferred with minimum 5 years of recent experience in dairy sector.)
- Strong knowledge of Food Safety Management Systems, Quality Management Systems and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Proven experience working with manufacturing processes and other relevant processes.
- Hands on experience with UHT and cultured products will be an added advantage
- Proficiency in QA-related systems and MS 365 tools.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across teams.
- Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet quality objectives.
- A collaborative team player with a strong sense of accountability.
- Should be able to work at our Dairy factory located in Banduragoda (Mirigma )
